The Big Bomb went to Hirohito, not Adolf.
Otherwise, yes, it takes a lot of fine print nowadays.

You know why? Because Japan was thought to be not sophisticated enough to disassemble and analyze the thing in case it failed. Germany on the other hand…

Going to “history” is maybe of value: the total destruction of Dresden, that had no military targets, does sum up “Shock and Awe’s” ACTUAL result pretty well. Amazing how our “surgical strikes” so often turn out like the surgeon who amputates the wrong leg, or does a heart transplant on a guy in for a cornea transplant.

Obama is now going to Congress, as Republicans AND Democrats demand after Republicans saying for many months, BOMB SOMEBODY! No matter what he does, Republicans will say it’s wrong, and will spend the next two weeks figuring out how to make any action Obama’s “fault”.

For every Republican you claim said “Bomb Someone” I can find a Republican who said we should stay out of it. And a Democrat that said we should get involved, starting with Obama.

You may be right, because with Romney i would suspect some backroom-deal with the MIC. Obama made his money with writing books, not falsifying them …

But, yes, the irony of cheering on a Nobel Peace Price winner to use deadly force does not escape me. Then again there seems to be a broad acknowledgment that Syria has WMDs and that they used them, so this is a different kettle of fish.

Golf War I was about Saddam being stopped from doing the same things to the Kurds. Golf War II started out as “Operation Iraqi Liberty” until someone pointed out that “OIL” was a bit too much of a giveaway…
