Meet Steve Moore

Steve Moore was born in Colorado and grew up in Southern California. He graduated from Oregon State University and completed his master's degree in journalism at the University of Oregon.

While working as a sports editor at The Maui News in Hawaii, he got the idea to create the comic panel "In the Bleachers." Soon after, Moore moved to the Los Angeles Times, where he worked in sports, news and features for 11 years. He resigned as a Times executive news editor in order to concentrate on the comic and to work in TV and feature animation.

His first animated feature film, Open Season, is being produced by Sony Pictures Animation and is scheduled for release Sept. 29, 2006. The movie showcases the voices of well-known actors Martin Lawrence, Ashton Kutcher, Debra Messing and Gary Sinise.

Moore currently has another animated feature film in development at Lions Gate Entertainment. He has produced 26 animated shorts for ESPN, and is the creator of a children's animated TV show titled "Metalheads" that aired on the BBC in England and on ZDF in Germany.

His newest book, "Dibs on His Clubs," has been published by Andrews McMeel Publishing and joins "The Best of In the Bleachers," published by Warner Books. For samples of "In the Bleachers," visit www.amuniversal.com/ups.

Moore's humor was inspired by his father, Bob, and cartoonists B. Kliban, Gary Larson, Charles Addams and Gahan Wilson. He lives in Idaho with his wife, Dru, and three childrenJakob, Lauren and Christopher.
