Just like the ones I read as a kid. But the illustration of the second suspect did trip me up for a second.

I knew it was a set-up, I had a cane for awhile and the cane is used on the good side. I was also in the accident insurance industry and you always look for small slip-ups and fraud.

The cane is used on the good leg side, to create a tripod of support. From How to use a cane correctly:
Hold the cane using the hand that’s on the same side as your good leg. It sounds counterintuitive, but it’s true.12 If your left leg is hurt, you should be holding the cane in your right hand. If your right leg is hurt, hold the cane in your left hand.

Only Dr House and someone that did not go to the doctor for their injury would use a cane on their bad side. I have walked with canes or been in a wheelchair since 1981. The only time I used the cane on my bad side is when i dislocated my shoulder on the good side. Walking like that is very unstable and you could very easily be in for a fall.

I think Werner must have never walked using a cane, The cane was being used properly according to the prints.

Since Inspector Danger heard the shot, I didn’t think Suspect #1 had time to change from regular shoes to tennis shoes; different pattern on the sole.

All of the people who said that a cane should be used on the
opposite side from the injury are CORRECT!! I have a bad
right hip & in therapy, I was told to use the cane in my left
hand because it gives you a better base for balance & it helps
    the left leg support you!!

Yep. My husband’s new hip made that one clear! I just wish the good inspector were more astute.

If he had an injured leg, he would have it elevated to reduce swelling. The cane would be used on the left or uninsured side.
