Some adults wistfully wonder what became of the imaginary friends of their childhood. Not Darin. His are sitting on the couch, too-constant companions sharing every strange moment of his cheerfully frustrated life. There’s Dewey the Dinosaur, with heart of gold and head of fluff, and Clovis, the Teddy Bear With Serious Anger Issues (and some very bad habits). An unemployed 30-year-old graphic designer, Darin lives in his father’s basement, which he also shares with the enigmatic Robert the Plant.

Could this be imaginary friend number 3. Life goes on with Dewey, Clovis and Phil A. Dendron.

@cleokaya – LOL. It is indeed, however, it’s not Phil – It’s Robert the Plant! ;-)
@Candice C – Thank you!
@doctortoon – LOL, nope. Robert is based on one of my houseplants at home. Does Doonesbury have talking plants? Wow, I didn’t know that.
@bald – Me neither!
@Pookid54 – Oh, it gets worse! And as for Gilgi – I’m glad you’re able to laugh at my pain. ;-)
@forrest11 – Indeed!
@teeterman – And that’s all that really matters!

Lucas - of course Doonesbury has talking house plants…all the socially relevant comic strips do.
And my sole purpose in life is to laugh at your pain. It’s so nice to have a purpose! =]

Sorry Lucas, how could I forget Robert the Plant. And me being such a big Led Zeppelin fan too.

Turnbloom - Zonkers’ plants used to talk to him in Doonesbury. One day he noticed that they weren’t talking anymore and one of the plants said that it might have been the drugs. He’s smoking pot again now, so maybe the plants will start talking again.

@pookid54 & doctortoon – Wow, really? Where the heck have I been? Well, Darin at one point tells where he got the plant. There may be some illegal substances involved. LOL
@Radical-Knight – I totally agree!
@cleokaya – It’s all good! Robert is easily forgetable (and killable!)
;-)
