OH NO! We can’t let them take away our sacred measurement cobbled-together-bits-and-pieces-based-on-whims-and-ego-not-really-a-system system!

When I was a kid they told us the US would be metric by 1978.

A long time ago, when I was in high school, I thought that the US would be on the metric system (AKA SI) by the time I graduated from college. Well, along came Ronny Reagan and he put an end to all things Carter (metric and solar).

If you still rather do measurement the old way, why not use Roman Numerals?

Carter tried remember. What killed it was when he then pushed the 55 mile and hour speed limit. It didn’t translate to a whole number so they would have had to do 90KPH which would have been over 55.

I agree with her. The metric system is horrible! It measures everything in quarter-inches, yards or 1/2 miles. The numbers are huge and unwieldly. It’s a terrible system of measurement and of course it was inflicted on us by the French.
