Even if you’re driving properly, having a police car behind you gives you the willies.

If Herb has a car, why the taxi-driver character?

“Didn’t you see the stop light?” “You’re just picking on me because I’m black!” Another reason that race problems will never be solved.

Question: the last time you had a brake light out, did you get a ticket or just a warning. I had one out Friday, that was the only problem. Yet I have to go to court. I can’t say it’s because I’m black but it doesn’t seem right.

And your point is what? I have been stopped and ticketed myself, so what? Was your light out or do you want to blame the cop that stopped you? I will not say that the “system” always works, but if people would just take responsibility for their own actions then maybe some major societal problems will finally go away.

Hate to burst your idea bubble pal, but you are wrong. I am a white woman in my 40’s with a bit of a lead foot. I get tickets I’d say…..4 out of 10 stops. Maybe half. Last I checked that is a bit more severe than having a tail light out. If I was black, I’d be treated like I was when I was a teenager hanging with the wrong crowd. I would be stopped, searched, harassed and then ticketed. That is the reality we live in.

“If I was black”. If you were black, you couldn’t be racist (ask Jesse Jackson). If you were black you would cause others fear if a group of you were following someone (again ask Jesse Jackson). I hate to burst your bubble, but the two groups you mention (teenagers and blacks) really are the cause of much of what the police have to deal with. I find it interesting that the black community will cry about black on black crime being ignored, yet this same community will punish another black that cooperates with the police. How about telling black students that they are acting “white” if they study hard? To repeat my assertion, if people were to assume personal responsibility for their actions society would really benefit.
