Don’t worry, Herb. You’ll get your summons in the mail tomorrow.

Been there, done that. Actually, the case I was on was a civil one, and pretty interesting.

Never served on a jury, lawyers don’t like computer techs. Or anyone else that has to think for a living.

Got the summons, went to the courthouse, didn’t get called. Happened 3 times. Just because you are summoned, doesn’t mean you’ll get on a jury. But if you do, do the best you can while there. Making a fuss that you have to serve is just creating stress for yourself.

Me either, and I’m 32… I wonder what records they go from to choose potential jurors. :-s

Jury duty is one of the weakest things we can do. Only we are supposed to have blank slates for brains. We can’t be “biased” but the judge, and two attorneys can be prejudiced. We only have the power to nullify laws for that one case we are on.

Gotten two summonses. First time I wrote back saying appearing in court would interfere with my finals at college. They’ve never busted me for that, so I guess they bought it. Second time I got one of those messages that said call after 5pm the day before to see if you’re needed; I did and I wasn’t. But a former coworker of mine, who had just gotten his American citizenship, was excited to pull jury duty. We all asked him why; he said being on a jury was part of the American experience and he wanted to experience all of it. Six weeks later he got another summons and was whining about it. “Yep,” I told him, “you’re an American.”

I got summoned twice. The first time I wasn’t chosen, but the second time I had to convict two teenagers for life. They killed an innocent Altar Boy to get their initiation to join a gang, We the Jury saw the evidence that was VERY convincing, the gas station camera, the car,the 3 in the back seat, the tire tracks at the murder scene, the 8 empty 9mm shells, the body and the actual location which isn’t too far from where I live. Unfortunately they only found 3 of the 4 Saturday Night Specials used in the crime. They got life and eligibility for parole in 2044.

They use lists of registered voters and/or valid driver’s license holders.
