    I say “whites and colors” when referring to clothing. But, white is a color just like black is.

    I no longer worry about separating colors when doing laundry; besides, it is very rare for the color of garment to “bleed” when wet.

    Back in the late 1960s, when I was staying with the parents during the summer between graduate school and my teaching job, Dad decided to do the laundry for me without asking. He missed the red colored athletic sock that was between a couple of white underwear items. All of my underwear turned pink.

    In modern times, that’s no big deal professional cowboys an rodeo cowboys sometimes were pink Wrangler brand shirts.
