It’s kinda sad when college athletes have to go to that extreme to take care of themselves. Their grievances were not being addressed, and players were punished for airing them. They want medical insurance, a limit to the training regimen that interferes with school, and a continuation of their scholarship if they are injured in training or on the field of play, among other things. Many big-name Universities make huge profits from their athletes, and treat them as disposable commodities.

That said, here come the blame-the-victim posts…

Are the athletes being forced into the programs? If economic pressures, scholarships, little parental support, are forcing them, perhaps they should opt for cheaper, State Colleges? There are always alternatives.

The schools charge players college admission as well as making money off of athletics ticket sales. God forbid the school give them a good education in return.

Oh, please, dzw3030, outline the way you enter an NFL career without playing in college. Or are you saying that, being able to make a good living in a career means that you should risk your life while someone makes millions from your efforts?
