So that’s what he meant by a “Laser like focus on jobs”.

The effect on executive salary of major corporations will probably be minimal. The cost per unit sold of those salaries is nominal. The people that will be greatly affected will be the owners of small businesses that employ low skill or entry level jobs.

Wage slaves, really, look what it says, increase the coast of hiring you by 40%. Not increase your wages by 40%, that is a lot of taxes that go to the government while spending a lot of money to send back to the people and the states. What is the reason for that!

Then he’ll throw a few thousand more pages of regulations on business on how to hire, pay, treat, look at, or whatever workers to “help” them costing business thousands more a year and giving them even more incentive to pass on hiring you.

I keep hearing about a “living wage” but no one can tell me what that means. Why not make the minimum wage $50 per hour no matter what the worth of the job is. Or $75 per hour?

The problem with the conservative approach is they no longer represent the middle class. They want to reduce taxes which does little to help those in poverty, they want little or no government, they want to spend on a military that is bigger than the sum of the next sixteen countries, and they want to enforce their beliefs on everyone else. Not much in there for me.

Any business – large or small – should be welcome to pay whatever it deems necessary to retain the quality of employee it desires. By what right does any one business (or government) impose its decision on everyone else? Where is the freedom of choice?

Nice! you managed to make Obama look like a 1970’s blaxsploitation tv episode slumlord pimp while touting your right wing economics swill. Nice dog whistle racism. You’re right up there with the best of them. Kudos.

I don’t understand. Anyone who can explain, please do.

I see numerous posters on this site who maintain one thing, are proven to be mistaken by others who explain the reasoning and often cite independent sources, and then those same posters maintain the same thing over and over.

Similarly, essentially the same thing shows up when people ask “how can you possibly think that way?”, someone answers….again with reasoning that can be easily followed, and then the same poster asks over and over “how can you possibly think that way?”

It’s as if their minds are closed before they pretend to have them opened. Why do people do this? If you really want to learn something, why do you refuse to learn it when someone is willing to teach it to you? Why even bother to spend the time asking?

Well of course conservatives support a “fair” tax. What a fair tax equates to is a massive tax cut for the wealthy and a massive tax increase for the poor. Sounds fair to me. Not. In the 20th Century, Republicans were OK with just ignoring poor people. In the 21st, the idea is that the poor should be punished. The wealthy don’t have enough money and the poor have too much. I could go on, but trying to have a sensible discussion with right-wingers today is like talking to a brick. Except the brick has more brains.

Sorry, Play One, this is not an explanation, but rather a joining with you in your not understanding. I used to give links to source documentation on subjects in these forums rather than links to the idiot political opinion sites that are often used here. I also have quoted source documentation. I did this because, in my naivety, I thought that it was just that people didn’t know how to find accurate information on government web sites. I could understand that because government web sites can be a real pig to navigate. But, good source information given freely was not accepted by most. Most would continue to quote the political sites. I deplore it when people have bad information and hate to have or distribute it myself. It baffles me why people would willingly believe and attempt to distribute inaccurate data.
