Need to switch those captions around, Henry. You know as well as I do the IRS is taking a bigger cut than the winner gets to keep.

Ah, this is so sad. Having to pay income tax on money you DIDN’T work to earn! Now she’s gonna starve to death.

’Scuse me, I have to get a tissue …

Let me tell you how it will be
There’s one for you, nineteen for me
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman

Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don’t take it all
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah I’m the taxman

If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I’ll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet.

Don’t ask me what I want it for
If you don’t want to pay some more
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman

Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman
And you’re working for no one but me.

And if you do a Damn thing about it we will Audit you. You hear me we will Audit you, every year so don’t try anything.

Nothing is more irritating than a millionaire whining about taxes. Be happy. Your millions are yours because of our protections and opportunities. Most — MOST — millionaires ‘earned’ their obscene wealth through inheritance.

“Born on third base and thought they had hit a triple,” to use Molly Ivins’ adage.

Ms MacKenzie didn’t do much to ‘earn’ her $370 million. Taxes are the least of her problems.

Could be worse, you could be the person who gave her a place in line in front of them.
    Giving is its own reward.

Why is wealth obscene? But you are right, besides the taxman she will be hounded by con artists and charities.

Wrong. You should take a minute to check facts before stating untruths. You’ll find one set of facts at

    http://finance.yahoo.com/news/pf_article_110333.html

The one pertinent to your rant is

“According to Thomas J. Stanley’s book, “The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America’s Wealthy,” only 20% of millionaires inherited their riches. The other 80% are what you’d call nouveau riche: first-generation millionaires who earned their cash on their own. Many millionaires simply worked, saved, and lived within their means to generate their wealth — think accountants and managers: regular people going to work every day. Most millionaires didn’t get their riches overnight when a rich relative died — they worked for the money."

    Last time I checked, 20% wasn’t most.

Molly is not someone to get your “facts” from.

Now, quit hating the ones who won, just because you didn’t.

Apparently you aren’t any better at geography than history.
    .
The Taxman your song refers to is in Great Britain.
    .
Historically, we separated from Great Britain starting in 17and76.

    cjger.

Um NO, don’t believe me look it up. But you are a product of the wealth envy, class warfare BS that is from the Obama smear machine." Harleyharhar.
    .
First time I heard that factoid cited was when the guy that ran the private fixed income fund for a top three Wall Street bank telling us; in 1989!
    .
More lately, no one less than Ben Bernanke has been cited as saying that in fact the greatest influence of your chances at wealth is who your parents are and where you were raised and what advantages you received as a result thereof.
    .
Now who am I going to believe? Harleyharhar, or Ben Bernanke? Harleyharhar or the fixed income specialist?
    .
    Consider yourself proved wrong.

I’ll bet he didn’t know that. We’re glad you’re smarter than the average bear.

Now, do you see any way the lyrics of that song could apply to the US? It may take you more than a second, but I’ll bet you can do it.
