    You sayin’ European cars—Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and the rest—are old horses compared to Ford, GM and Chrysler?

    In you chauvinist dreams, Mr. Payne. If you Repugs had your way, GM and Chrysler wouldn’t even exist!

    Bankruptcy does necessarily not equal death. What GM wanted to do was restructuring. And even if they went under, it’s a pretty good bet someone else would have taken advantage of the equipment and plants.

    Everywhere else in the world governments give their businesses support so that those businesses will have profits on which to pay taxes and use those profits to hire their citizens.

    Here in the US we give them tax loopholes to avoid paying taxes on their profits and encourage them to move their jobs to other countries.

    Who’s going to be the more successful system in 50 years?

    Wrong again…..they would have gone bankrupt, reorganized and gone forward. Would not have needed taxpayer money. Instead, in Obama’s world the Feds had to get involved and throw away our money to the benefit of Obama’s friends. Just like all of the money thrown away on green energy.

    @jack75287

    asked " Can Seven Billion people live off the land?"

    Well, it’s pretty much being done right now, albeit disproportionately; but can it be done for everyone at the same rate of consumption of the developed nations? Nah. You’d need several earths. Good thing we starve a billion or two for the sake of the billion or two eating very well and the others so-so.

    Sorry, I went off tangent along with your comment; what I meant to post was: wtf are you talking about?
