Seems to me if its a good union then most members will continue to pay dues. I thought Dems were for choice?

Current members will. The employers will sort them out. The replacements will be hired for minimum wage and have nothing to spare for union dues. End of the unions. Everybody on the left knows that. You only THINK we are stupid…

But if the employers hire two part time employees instead of a full time employee, then the government can brag that they’ve increased the number of jobs 100%!

Just make sure the new employees don’t work enough hours to qualify for health insurance.

awww…. the poor unions…. not being able to extract union dues from everyone pulling a paycheck. My heart is bleeding….. Don’t worry Rad, no one will have a healthcare plan in a few years other than OTaxCare.

Air Force One has an elevator that can help a man in a wheelchair get aboard. However, if that plane flies overseas, the man in the wheelchair is subject to disability challenges we’ve abolished in our country. The older I get, the more people I know who benefit from handicap ramps, parking spaces, and laws that prevent businesses from discriminating against the disabled. I made my Union comment under Lisa Benson’s cartoon but this one gives me another chance to express my anger at how Republicans voted against the UN Treaty that would have given the rights our country has given our disabled to people everywhere. And their reason for doing so was ignorant to a point of criminality.

Something will fill the vaccuum that unions leave behind and it may not be pretty.

If the likes of the Koch brothers get their way, it’ll be the Second Age of the Robber Barons- where the rich have all the power, just like God intended. (Never mind what his son said; that’s just commie propaganda.)

Of course, we’re for choice. What we’re opposed to is freeloading. Why should workers benefit from the efforts of unions in salary levels, pensions, and hours without having to pay dues TO the unions? Just like the freeloading Tea Partiers, benefiting from American society and government yet grousing about paying taxes to support those benefits. Buncha conservative parasites.

“Something will fill the vaccuum that unions leave behind and it may not be pretty.”

A bit dramatic considering that they only comprise 7% of the private sector workforce.

C:, at 66 with the usual infirmities of my age, I can appreciate what you say about handicap facilities. I read the argument against the U.N. measure and I must say it seems illogical to me. The prevailing fear amongst the conservatives is at some point “someone” will use a U.N. mandated treaty to impose some onerous limitation on our freedom’s. Reality as it is, this treaty could be helpful to others that don’t have the protection of the ADA and if they subscribe to the treaties of the U.N. . I guess we can attribute their attitude for one of the reasons they lost the recent election.
The unfortunate reality today is the people that need it the worst are likely not resident of a country that adheres to the mandates of the U.N. or they are so impoverished they can’t enact them. Therein lies my objection to the U.N. in general; I think it is a totally ineffective body for the results it achieves. Better I don’t go down that road here…

If people actually wanted to join the unions this would not be an issue, problem is the unions refuse to offer potential members anything but threats.

I’ve belonged to three unions (and have been a member of my current union for 17 years) and have never been threatened. Far from it, they have been my advocates. So, I would have to characterize your response as ill-informed at best, but more likely a lie.
