It all started when Phoebe skipped a rock across a pond and accidentally hit a unicorn in the face. Improbably, this led to Phoebe being granted one wish, and using it to make the unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, her obligational best friend. But can a vain mythical beast and a nine-year-old daydreamer really forge a connection?

But his name is Max not Timothy. Besides wouldn’t he be the apple of Phoebe’s eye?

That unicorn is just too equincentric and that isn’t even very poetic. Max is a tech geek so some play on Apple (ujean)would be better. For Dakota you need something superficially flattering with an insulting deeper meaning.

Marigold giving valantine advice. This should be fun!

Her best course is to say something reasonably nice in Dakota’s card. It’s entirely possible that D’s message to her will be at least passingly pleasant. In that case Phoebe would feel like a heel if her card to D were less so, even if they are given anonymously. And if D’s written message does turn out to be like her verbal ones, Phoebe will have the moral advantage, and who knows it might change enmity to friendship.

Perhaps compare Dakota to a bale of digested hay.

I still believe in moral advantages! That’ll show ‘em. One of these days they’re bound to notice. :)

For Max you should say “Your even better then a brand new Apple” and let him assume what he will from that. And for Dakota say “you are as important as a Unicorn Princess” and let her make her own assumptions from it as well.
but some how I feel like the plot will just leave us with a confused Max, a sad Dakota who will need cheering up , a Phoebe who took bad advice from a Unicorn, a teacher’s letter home to mom and some how involve boogers.

It would be unfortunate if those two cards are switched.
