It all started when Phoebe skipped a rock across a pond and accidentally hit a unicorn in the face. Improbably, this led to Phoebe being granted one wish, and using it to make the unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, her obligational best friend. But can a vain mythical beast and a nine-year-old daydreamer really forge a connection?

I don’t see the charm of Marigold’s narcissism. My late grandmother was pathologically narcissistic. Two of my uncles are as well. It’s not the least bit pleasant.

That’s not narcissism; that’s vanity.

I’m afraid your relatives had the poor misfortune of not being Unicorns. Only Unicorns can pull it off and not be jerks! Witness Dakota.

It is possible to be vain, without being cruel. Marigold is seldom if ever cruel.

Unicorns would hardly consider it wasted time.

re: Dana Simpson
.
I’ve never met a person who was vain that wasn’t a bad person in other ways. Admittedly, most of my generation’s women were taught to do that in junior high and high school with the “I love me” “esteem self” business. Unfortunately, most went into the drug, party, alcohol, fornication scene for a decade or more, with many who never quit, even after a quarter century.

I had a relative who used to say, "I’m not conceited. Conceit is a fault … I have no faults … I’mperfect!
He said it as a joke … but he really was conceited!
Thinking back, if he wanted a list of his faults, I could have given him an earful!

When a unicorn does it, people say: “That unicorn is soooo cute!” when a person does it:“you’re so full of yourself!”

Its not conciet or vainity when it is a statement of fact. Every horse I have met seems to have a similar point of view.

I’ve been missing this strip the last few days. I’m soooooo happy to have my daily dose of unicorn/girl friendship back! I’m glad that my current set of friends and acquaintances is blissfully free of seriously conceited folks. Maybe I’ve just gotten pickier about whom I share my time with.
Happy, happy, happy!!!

Would you please stop commenting on this comic?
I am getting weary of your constant negativity, and obsession with drugs, alcohol, and sex.
This comic i supposed to be fun.

@Happy, happy, happy!!!
If you change the order of strips on your “My Comics Page” list (click the “Add/Edit comics” link at the top of this page), and put “Heavenly Nostrils” as the first entry, it will appear without any comments at all. That would appear to solve your problem.
