It all started when Phoebe skipped a rock across a pond and accidentally hit a unicorn in the face. Improbably, this led to Phoebe being granted one wish, and using it to make the unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, her obligational best friend. But can a vain mythical beast and a nine-year-old daydreamer really forge a connection?

Self-depreciating humor from Marigold? We’re making progress here!

Indeed! But the term is “self-deprecating.”

Marigold’s face may not be stupid, but her personality is… well….

Aw that last part was cute! (as always) But man we have to thank DAKOTA for bringing these two together? wow.
Come to think of it I’m surprised Phoebe didn’t hit a Kappa or a mermaid or a water nymph. What quirk of fate brought marigold out that day?
Night-Gaunt49 said, 4 months ago
Ironic isn’t it? If it weren’t for Dakota’s continuing insults to Phoebe she would never have gone to her special place and skipped that rock.

Actually, no, it’s “self-depreciating”. To “deprecate” something means to say a prayer that it won’t happen. “From battle and murder and sudden death, good Lord deliver us” is a deprecation. However, some time ago, somebody confused “deprecate” with “depreciate”, and now the mistake is so common that you can’t safely use either word in its right meaning.

@strangeanimal
I just saw her art post on her Deviant. I think thats a great way to show ideas that may or may not fit the strip canon.
