It all started when Phoebe skipped a rock across a pond and accidentally hit a unicorn in the face. Improbably, this led to Phoebe being granted one wish, and using it to make the unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, her obligational best friend. But can a vain mythical beast and a nine-year-old daydreamer really forge a connection?

Phoebe can’t aim to save her life, can she?

In her defense, she’s aiming paper.

Better than horseshoes, I’m sure.

(Insert Phoebe has bad aim joke) only a best friend would put up with you tossing hats at her head trying to land one perfectly. But Marigold does have a point..er a logical statement, New years is just a mark on the calender, different people put it different places. Also how many of you equestrian fans watch the Rose Bowl Parade? All those horses marching today made me think of some of the regulars here. Also I wish Marigold and Phoebe and Todd could be a float.

All right for a nine-year-old, but deadly dangerous for adults: see http://www.cse.dmu.ac.uk/~mward/gkc/books/Poet_and_Lunatics.html#d
Happy, happy, happy!!!

Back wards facing cones are far from aerodynamic.

While the point in time chosen to mark the begining and end of the year is arbitrary, the motion of the planets about the sun and the interaction of the magnetic field with the solar wind is the source of energy for the magic Marigold employs.

@Q4horse
Science and magic combined. Superb!

A cone hat would be pretty hard to throw, or even drop accurately. It would catch air and tend to flip over.

@sjsczurek
Science sufficiently advanced appears as magic.

Do you know how hard it is to get a cone to fall well backwards? Phoebe is doing a great job, and Marigold is being the patient best friend.

Agreed.

For some reason that reminds me of a couple of dummies from Grants Pass that decided to play William Tell with a beer can in the early 1990s…

Let me guess . . . there is one dummy left?

Also, the reason we have New Year’s Day on January 1st is because in medieval times, some IDIOT of a Pope decided hey, forget April 1st as the start of a new year, let’s make it January 1st! Result= we now have April 1st as April Fools Day, because some people back then refused to go along with that dummy moron, and continued to celebrate April 1st as the start of a new year! I call that Pope a dummy, a moron, a pinhead, a prat and a jerk because admit it, when would you rather celebrate the New Year? In the deep cold of January, or in the approaching spring of April? Yes, April can be a cold, wet month, but at least it’s marginally better than January!
