    One of the harsh realities of the public school system is that if a kid is different in any way, they become a target.

    Some kids may justly deserve it due to legitimately anti-social actions, but others just don’t “fit in” and so even teachers can potentially get in on it.

    Not all the time. If they are strange enough, and not afraid they will simply be shunned. I had that through most of my life. Rare indeed for someone to not care about it. Very rare even today so many years later. Human reaction very normal. Just unpleasant.

    Teachers have already shown a bias in how they treat boys vs girls in science and math.
