Clayton Moore, who played the Lone Ranger, along with Jay Silverheels (Tonto) had the highest rated TV show on ABC back in the early 50’s. He passed away at age 85 in 1999.

I met Clayton Moore once, back in the ’70s I think. Really nice guy. Jay Silverheels passed away before Moore.

Big fan of the Lone Ranger and Clayton Moore. That show is back on TV on a network called CoziTV which just started a few months ago. I’ve also noticed we read many of the same strips.

Some years ago I saw Jay Silverheels on a talk show and he was very funny. The host asked if he had ever seen under the Ranger’s mask. Jay replied in his best Tonto dialect. Me see under mask many times, no big deal.

I also remember a show called Brooklyn Bridge, which was about growing up in that place during the 1950s. In one episode the family has an uncle visiting from Poland. The youngest member of the family, a boy of about 6, tells the uncle about the Lone Ranger and his good deeds. The uncle replies that in Poland they also had a masked man on a white horse who went around saving people, and he continued saying, there we called him the meshugganah, which is Yiddish for a crazy man.
