    Man, that’s hard to read. “Anita Arnold of Gatesville, TX, says her cat ‘Smokey’ loves to hide in her flowerbed, wait for her dog and then hop out and chase her! Let the race begin!”

    I never thought a scratching post could wear out until my cat Boots started getting big

    He’s a good 20 pounds now but I doubt he not was much more than half that size when he destroyed his first scratching post

    He not only tore the carpet off the wood, but he managed to nearly separate the base from the post

    He’s done a lot of damage to the cat tree but at least it’s still all in one piece

    @Nabuquduriuzhur

    My extended family mom can one up ‘Smokey’ on this one. In 1969, she had a cat and Lhasa Apso dog. She lived in Rural America and raised Cattle. Her house sat abut ¼ mile from main highway. She had an electric fence to keep the cattle out of the yard and away from the house.
    One nice sunny day, she looked out the window and saw the dog resting at bottom of steps at front entrance to her house. She saw her cat walk over and pester the dog to the point where the dog gave chase to the cat. The cat ran the dog all around the house several times, even reversing route, and then the cat scampered under the electric fence, the dog was going too fast to stop and was too tall to scoot under the fence, so the dog hit the fence and began to yelp.
    The dog then walked back to her resting spot at bottom of steps, and about the time she settled down the cat walks over and pesters the dog again, the cat takes same exact route as before, and the dog still hit the fence, this happened all day every sunny day from spring to fall, the dog never did learn if she chased the cat, she would ne zapped when she hit the electric fence.
    This is proof Cats are indeed smarter than dogs.

    I remember my cat, Mitzi, she died two months ago from cancer. A few things I found funny was she was older than me by one year and despite being declawed she would always try to sharpen her claws on the furniture. I will always miss her.
