    My “reading” in real life included
    1. JFK assassination (and all the rest)
    2. RFK Assassination (and all the rest)
    3. MLK Assassination (and all the rest)
    4. Harvey Milk
    5. Reagan: attempt (James Brady “collateral”)
    6. John Lennon (I still grieve)
    A few off the top. But an unbelievable loss to humanity, none the less. There are so many more.

    I learned so much watching TV news. Especially when “Uncle Walter” brought it to us. And I am a Canadian!

    And a lot of that reading was probably in newspapers, where you also read the comics, and now we read them here!

    @c.davies

    Cronkite twisted the news whenever he could, and openly stated that his goal was one world government.

    Chris Maple: If elected by the people, it sure beats the one world anarchy we have now.

    Not only is there reading in real life, there’s also writing. When I was in grad school, I told my students “I don’t know which of your classes you’ll use most in your career but I know which one you’ll you’ll use second-most. Writing or English composition. You will not BELIEVE the amount of writing you do in the real world.” Some of them even believed me…

    Maybe not in your life, Heart, but please don’t assume that that’s true for everybody else. At least some of us still enjoy reading, even in this high-tech age, and those aspects of life need not be mutually exclusive.
