At least it’s not a kite eating tree.

There is a church in downtown Philly with a plaque marking the place BF flew his famous kite experiment. His discovery that lightning was electricity not only advanced the Enlightenment view of nature as knowable but also made Franklin world-famous, which helped encourage the French to assist in defeating the Brits at Yorktown. Thanks, Ben!

Ironic, since religious figures were initially against the implications of Ben’s experiment; that anyone would dare study or control lightning.

In New Orleans, we had to go to the Mississippi River levee.

Franklin asked his wife for sex and she said, “Go fly a kite”.

Of course, it was conveniently raining at the time, so when Franklin took that advice literally, he was able to mask it as “doing scientific research”… and then there was lightning, and the rest, as they say, is pot pie…. or was that “history”? I’m never sure these days, myself.
