Since when was this Greedo thing an issue? Did I miss something the first time the movie was released? I distinctly remember Solo didn’t wait for Greedo to shoot.

re: blunebottle
Lucas tried to be PC by having versions of the scene where Greedo shot first and shot simultaneously.
.
It wasn’t well thought out. Greedo couldn’t miss at that range. Nor did anyone blame Solo for preventing his own death.

Just as long as they don’t insert Rick Astley into the Cantina scene.

Yeah, I saw Star Wars in theaters in 1977 and trust me,. NObody cared that Han gunned Greedo down. There was no anger over it, no hue and cry that Han was such a mean awful character for doing it. It was NEVER an issue and I still don’t see why Lucas felt the need to ‘fix’ it. Even if he really intended Greedo to fire first all along (which I doubt, he would have shot it that way if it were true) the original version was fine and accepted.
I will say that it’s odd for someone Dean’s age to be a purist for the unchanged originals since the only way he ever would have seen them is on a DVD. He probably would have seen the revised version first, and most kids don’t care what the ‘old’ version looked like.

Just like spielburg replacing the weapons in E.T. with “Walkie Talkies”, lucas has exposed himself as a hack. Neither can be forgiven.

In the age of blasters, nobody shoots second.

I was always thinking of someone with a blaster facing someone with a gun … the one with the blaster saying, "Man … I don’t even have to hit you … I just have to get within about five or ten feet.

@blunebottle
Greedo had the drop on Han, he threatened to kill Han, Han secretly pulled his gun under the table and fired before Greedo could kill him. Anything else is nonsense.

In response to one of Dean’s previous campaigns against the “Greedo Draws First” revision, another poster (name escapes me) and I coined the verb “to Lucas”, which means “to change without improving.”

If Indiana Jones could shoot the Arab swordsman, why can’t Han Solo shoot Greedo?
