I’m with Dean on this one.

If he ruins Star Wars like he ruined Star Trek, some people will still hire him to direct stuff.

JJ Abrams can direct?? Have to prove it to me…

Nah… I liked J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek.(though enough with the shaky cam and glare!)
I don.t really care if someone messes with the source material .. .just tell me a good story!

At least JJ can have dialogue written that isn’t the insipidly childish drivel that Lucas and Speilberg toss out — like marginal notes of teenage boys in their school workbooks. Such crap! That was what did in Star Wars — total lack of realistic dialogue for the situation. But then the writing was for the kid audience to start with.

Still don’t understand why Joss Whedon wasn’t given a shot. He only made a billion dollars for Marvel. And he can write and direct.

Are we talking about the same person who directed those wacky Airplane! and The Naked Gun! movies?

I said my piece about this yesterday, so I think I shall exercise my option to tune out the rest of this week’s strips.

I love George Lucas but can I say three words, “Howard the Duck”. I thought that J. J. Abrams version of Star Trek rocked. I just think it is funny how Disney is going to milk Star Wars for all it is worth.

re: Don Boyer
the dialogue in Star Trek was terrible. I’ve known high schoolers that could write better material.

Sorry – but who cares?

Yep. Here we star wars fans were waiting for another of the promised 20 movies and in 1986 we got… Howard the Duck. ARG!

Star Wars has been ruined since “Return of the Jedi”.

I don’t have anything against J.J. I will reserve judgement until I see the Star Wars movie. However, I agree with Jeffc42. After what Joss Whedon did with Firefly, I think he could have brought Star Wars to an amazing place.
