I saw the movie. Best non-PIXAR movie I have seen this year. In the HFR thingie with 48 frames per second for clearer picture. But I would also have to see it in regular format to really make an accurate comparison…which I am sure some people did.

Saw the Hobbit today on IMAX in 3-D at 48 fps with a great sound system. It was a real experience. Want my money back from all previous 3-D movies. The future has arrived.

How do you make nine hours worth of movies out of a 41/2 to, maybe, a 5 hour book?

They include some of the off-screen action that’s only hinted at in this book or not revealed until the Lord of the Rings. Saw it last night in 3-D. If you’re a Tolkien fan, you’ll enjoy it.

By throwing in material from the Simarillion, the LOTR appendices and expanding on barely-mentioned bits of information from the Hobbit & LOTR.

I hope to see it sometime. More than half way through the Hobbit and it could have made a fine movie on its own. Just one. Three hours long but still interesting. Several spectacular scenes in it to. beware the wargs!

I remember the original cartoon version of The Hobbit. I wish I could remember all of the “Frodo of the 9 fingers” song.

Actually, that song is from the Rankin Bass version of The Return of the King… I saw The Hobbit yesterday myself, and was impressed. Martin Freeman is excellent as Bilbo, and Richard Armatage does a great Thorin.
