I wonder if it will have anything to do with what Tolkien wrote?

The classics are less likely to be degraded on screen.

I wonder how much New Line Cinema paid Mark to promote their movie.

Likely nothing, this is an accurate depiction of the geek reaction to this movie.

I strongly resemble that remark!

Three movies for LOTR I could understand. That was three books. Three movies for “The Hobbit”? One 250 page book? Can you say overwhelming greed, boys and girls?

@WaitingMan
Peter Jackson had to cut a LOT out of the LoTR books while making the movie. (e.g. Tom Bombadil) He now has the Hollywood clout to make “The Hobbit” movies the way he probably would have liked to have made the LoTR movies. That’s not greed, that’s artistic vision.

I feel just like Dean! It’s been a Long Long Long wait!!!

The fact that they are adding stuff that wasn’t even in the book and that they went form 2 to 3 movies, makes me lean more towards “Hollywood Greed” than “Artistic Vision.”

That’s a rather dodgy-looking hobbit, althoug anything’s better than a Rankin-Bass hobbit:

Looks more like a frog.

You’re probably right because unless they’re avid readers of Gocomics, they’ve probably never heard of “Heart of the City” or Mark Tatulli. Of course, I don’t know what newspapers carry his strip.

Was going to be two movies, then Jackson decided to include The Necromancer (mentioned in passing in the Hobbit and in the appendix of LOTR) aka Sauron.

I just started reading “The Hobbit.” Just so I have some idea of what is changed or not.
