Tell me, anyone, do you still feel in a sense like Heart and Dean: probably being too old for Halloween by dressing up and trick-or-treating?
It’s like saying you’re too old to believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny anymore.
I disagree because if your a parent of small children, you wouldn’t want to disappointment them saying that there isn’t such thing. You think?

Don’t let them get to you, Heart !
Adults still play with dolls and dress up.
Only then it’s called “action figures”and “cosplay”
As Shakespeare said “What’s in a name ?”

I think that lil’ “Heart hat” and tu-tu dress would be a GREAT girls costume. Mark, you should put it out there and see. P.S. DON’T QUIT NOT NOW! WE MUST NOT LOSE HEART! (A little play on words) Imean theres so much to cover. For example: How did Mrs. Angellini’s date with Officer Mario go?

I’m 47 and we’re probably going to start working on my costume tonight.

One of the perks of parenthood is Halloween becomes even more OK to get excited about. I’ll be a referee between my little Buzz Lightyear and Fairy Princess. I just hope that she won’t clobber him with her magic wand.

And I’m sure those other two girls wouldn’t enjoy free candy handouts at all.

Those two are acting grown up, but they’ll be out there with their plastic pumpkins and/or pillow cases just like the rest of the kids on the block.

It’s interesting that Heart is showing much greater maturity than the bullies that are taunting her for not showing maturity…

I didn’t dress up when I got older. But I did stand outside and look mean and take candy from kids who were by themselves.

Where I grew up, the little kids went out trick-or-treating early. If you were out too late, the teen-agers would rip off your goodies. After the little kids went home, the teens would vandalize the entire town. There would be piles of hay bales and old tires burning in the streets, for example. Half the “fun” of Halloween was going around the next day and looking at all the damage. It was a small, but very tough, town… with no cops.

Aw, poor Heart. I’m an adult and I still dress up every year, and spend at least two months planning and making my costume, and it’s one of the most exciting times of the year for me. Obviously I don’t trick-or-treat, but I do give out candy.

I still want to be a Fairy Princess when I grow up, and I’m 12!!! Go heart!!!

Trick or treat…..got any drugs…….got any smokin’ dope?
Ya know?

The thing is, neither Heart nor Dean is really hesitant to dress up on the OTHER 364 nights of the year. Why should they be worried about it on the one night they can really SHINE? Show the amateurs how it’s done.

Halloween is a big deal here.Sunshine Coast British Columbia Fireworks and trick or treating to all the stores in the mall. The adults go to dances, in full costume. It’s the best reason to celebrate..

This is a great way to show how children experience and deal with peer pressure today.

When I was a kid, we did trick or treating at Halloween until we got to highschool. Then it was fun to shell out. The only halloween decoration was the jack o lantern.
NOW I dress up to shell out. We have all kinds of halloween decorations around (my favourite is the crashing witch). We dole out candy to the kids and warm apple cider to the parents (in Toronto, it’s usually a bit cold by halloween).
Halloween has evolved from just a kid’s thing to something everyone can enjoy.

We don’t have any children, but dress up to hand out candy - always something “scary”. The kids love it. And look forward to it. Every year they ask if we’re going to dress up again on Halloween. And they always vote for “something scary”

Since I work afternoons and have worked the last few Halloweens, I haven’t been able to dress up for treat-giving. We don’t usually get many kids coming by anyway.
I dress up for work. Last year I went to my lab dressed like a “tissue sample”, with rags and little containers of facial tissue stapled all over my (old) clothes.
We now are required to use royal blue scrubs, so maybe I’ll go as a smurf this year.
