“Take her to the dollar store.”
You’re kidding! Heart’s street-cred wouldn’t let her anywhere near the place!!!

If your ‘no’ means ‘no,’ you don’t get dramatic meltdowns. I regularly take my boys to the toy store. We play with the toys while we’re there, and then we say goodbye to them when it’s time to go. If we’re buying something that day, we talk about it before we go in, and that’s what we buy. That way they don’t have any unrealistic expectations, and we don’t have any histrionics.

Agreed, myhaircut: if Addy wonders why it happens every time, the answer is, “because it works.” ;) That said, sometimes “no” is hard to stick to!

Why go to a toy store if you aren’t going to get something? Heart is like any typical kid - that’s why this is one of my favorite strips.

One of my nephews at 4 or 5 would pull outright tantrums if he didn’t get what he wanted…I don’t think he and his wife have kids yet…wonder why?

Heart does the old “little Drama Princess” routine & get’s the “Brat Bribe” (the “new” Karlie fashion doll”) to quiet her down. As a old saying goes “The squeaky wheel gets the grease”.

Dang Mark I swear you must be around a kid that is a lot like mine….that is scary.

Mom, learn to use the word, NO! it works everytime. If she gives you a hard time, just warm her bcakside in the store. And ban her from going on trips for a couple months. She will behave.
