PhD psychologist, James Dobson, former head of Focus On The Family, tried to claim that the Spongebob Squarepants cartoon character was a gay sponge.
Soupy Sales was NOT a cartoon character. I thought he was funny way back in the middle 1950s.
Oh, speaking of the Emmy Awards and gay characters, Neil Patrick Harris, who is openly gay in real life, will be hosting the next “Emmy Awards” broadcast.

so, when spongebob goes to the beach, does he ‘soak in’ the sun?
so, when spongebob sits in class, does he ‘absorb’ the lesson?
so, when spongebob loses something, does he ‘scour’ the neighborhood?
just curious

With “Powerhouse” animated series in prime time such as Family Guy,The Simpsons & South Park. No wonder why Sponge Bob’s always “shut out” of the Emmys!
But there always the “Nicklelodeon Kids Choice Award” (SpongeBob SquarePants won in 2003,2004,2005,2006,2007 & 2009 Spongebob lost to fellow animated Nickelodeon series Avatar The Last Airbender In 2008.)

Neil Patrick Harris did a good job with the Tonys. I look forward to his Emmy turn, especially since all he has to do is show up with a lab coat over a tuxedo vest to get us GenXers all nostalgic.
And I’ve found Spongebob to be kind of cute, but it’s no Simpsons, that’s for sure.

My Dad never allowed me to watch Soupy Sales. Of course my day was a psychologist

Not sure about SpongeBob being gay but it does have it’s moments that make you go hmmm should I be letting my kid watch this because I’m homophobic.

Spongebob is going to be ten years old. Do sponges live that long?

Gay or not, if anybody thinks watching Spongebob will turn kids gay, they need serious psychological help. Nobody’s ever gone gay just by watching a TV character. That’s not how homosexuality works. It’s be like you just choosing to breathe underwater and talk to fish because you saw Aquaman do it first. Never going to happen.
