Who needs special treatment when you have a wooden spoon? The cheaper, more effective way!

My two brothers and I went through many wooden spoons. In fact they were always new because she kept having to replace them.

In retrospect, I’m amazed we all made it to adulthood, not from the spanking but from all the stuff we did that should have killed or maimed us that earned the spanking.

As no stranger to the wooden spoon I can vouch for its effectiveness!

Yeap a little spanking with a wooden spoon felt better than that switch mother sometimes got when she couldn’t find the spoon. We all seemed to turn out ok and respectful to the law. And like you Wenthral it is amazing we lived to be adults with some of the stuff we did back then. Ha ha.

Wooden spoon? My parents bought the “Board of Education”. It had a picture of a person in cap and gown but after a while you couldn’t see it anymore from all the black electrical tape used to hold it together.

Too bad we can’t take this sort of thing into adulthood with us. I can think of a lot of adults who would benefit from the application of the clue-by-four.
And yes, I was amazed at surviving to adulthood. I can recall at least a few times when my unhelmeted head came within inches of brain damage after a nasty spill off my bike.

Does Lio go to the same school as Heart?

Ah… you all had it easy! My mother, of German extraction, kept a wicker rug beater hanging outside our bedrooms. That kept us out of BIG trouble… little trouble just got us grounded.

My mom saved her wooden spoons for cooking. Instead, we got the paint-stick which always came free from the paint store.

Chuck 1002 …. My Mom had the same thing!!! The handle had writing on it that said “Grip here firmly in case of frustration” and the same picture you spoke of. Drove my Mom nuts when I didn’t cry when she spanked me with it!!!

We have the resources to help children that make “bad choices” but cut programs for students that will actually contribute to society. Mrs. Angelini for Secretary of Education!!!

My high school had a bomb scare once, before they were fashionable. Freezing cold outside. Piled us on buses and prepared to hit the middle school. Learned far too many students couldn’t follow we’re going to the middle school, then you’ll get on your buses for home. So many kept pointing out this wasn’t their bus. So many high schoolers.

Turns out, it was a cassette player stuck at the end, making a ticking sound. Also, this was when cassette tapes were the only thing.
