Back in the 1940’s, Momma had a sure fire cure for ADHD—-We did not need drugs (other than our morning coffee) and if we misbehaved, she used a belt. We grew up to be good, well adjusted, citizens.

…and how many of that 20% received their diagnoses after their parents took them to at least two licensed and certified professionals?
    []
One of the big scandals of the public school system today is that a lot of teachers and administrators are arbitrarily “diagnosing” children that do not fit the school’s pre-conceived notions of how a child “should” act and then pressuring everybody into rubber-stamping their agreement.
    []
Adding insult to injury, there is an overlap between the symptoms of ADD & ADHD and the signs of a gifted child who is not having their intellect met. As such, many of these children who have been diagnosed might actually be future geniuses who are being medicated into mediocrity.

My mother believed in tough discipline and it taught my brother violence. Love must be better even if it takes more time and energy. Another solution is to not have kids. That’s a novel one that a lot of people never think of.

Public schools are all about scandal because they love short cuts. In my public school they didn’t even have textbooks for any math or English classes and the rest of the textbooks were old. The teachers didn’t teach or assign homework either. The principals didn’t oversee the teachers. In fact my middle school principal was drunk in his office and never came out.

Thank you Darren, we need get rid of Dr. Spock and go back to the greatest BOOK of all times which says that if you spare the rod you spoil the child. By the way Adrian, it is not “brutality” to spank a child, but drugging him is!
