    Oh, I bet beta-mercaptoethanol could give it a run for its money.

    There is an excellent article in last month’s Scientific American called “The Antioxidant Myth” that explains how the benefits of taking antioxidants have been exaggerated way out of proportion. In fact, the evidence is ambiguous, and taking vast amounts of antioxidants may actually be harmful.

    Read the SA article too – basically just eat foods with antioxidant properties and good foods in general – skip the supplements, pills, etc!

    You can also eat seaweed and it’s supposed to be good for the health. This idea of taking things in pill form instead of the whole food is no good. They’ve recently found calcium and vitamin D tablets don’t work.
