BigAlthegal- I read in James Herriot’s book of an old “trick”. When letting the gas out of a cow or sheep’s stomach when they got into bad feed or too much clover, the vet would sometimes put a match to the escaping “fumes” to cause a “flare”. Did you have that in mind?

Apparently it impressed the old farmers. Although not if it were done in a tinder -dry barn!

I was told ginger ale, no substitutes accepted. But very often you feel better after 24 hours anyway, no matter what you do. So feeling better the next day does not prove that the particular medicine was the cause.

We usually called it “stomach flu”, when it was usually something bad you ate. And you got to feel it painfully dragging itself thru your digestive system, inch by inch, from one end to the other (in the beginning it got only so far, then came back up again)… Not everybody wants to be that aware of their insides!

Can I conclude from the cartoon that what she’s eating now is not bad food?

    3hourtour: nope

RinaFarina: i almost agree with you, but i think the coffee concoction is worth a try - what a detailed description of “stomach flu”! lol!

and yes, you may conclude that her current feed is good. the farmer will never make her sick. he’s a good farmer. nice guy and knows what he’s doing. she is safe with him.
