Up to 39 episodes. 22 is the usual these days, assuming it is for a hit show.

Cable changed everything and it took the big 3 networks long enough to figure it out

The show that hooked us with a short season was Longmire, we watch a lot of crime dramas but this one is set so close by to us that it really added to the appeal

I agree with you. It’s just really ridiculous. I just have the tv on for the noise. But if I don’t pay attention, I don’t know when a series begins a new season. And then there are the networks that run one show ad nauseam you don’t want to watch the show anymore, unless there was an episode you missed seeing. I think the networks should go back to the fall start with the 30 or so episodes then go to reruns and stop with the “mid-season” shows. It would be a lot easier to keep track of the shows.

Right and also the re-runs of current shows shows start way too soon now.
The mid-season is just garbage to replace a show they had high hopes for and that show failed.

For “Walking Dead” the first season was 6 episodes. The later seasons are longer.

The cable shows are finding they don’t have to have 22 episode seasons. Which is fine as long as the quality is good like “Americans.”

Fawlty Towers had a total of 12
