Public school will do that to you. If you have an imagination they will either smother it, smash it, or drug it.

We used to go swimming in the Susquehanna River and at Mr. Davis’s pond. What a blast!

Not always. My son has ADHD and behavioral issues but the public school allowed him to build things when he behaved. He got to spend time with the principal building a clock that works, a lawn ornament, cars, etc. He learned that he’s very good with his hands.

Sounds like you lucked out with a smaller school and an understanding principal. Mine (way back in the dinosaur age) had a school named after him.

Those swimming holes, or small lakes are pretty good. The water warmed up fast compared to Lake Michigan, and there are turtles in them.
