@LeoAutodidact
Taxes, house bills, clothing for the kids, food on the table, school field trips, school supplies, trips to the emergency room, car repairs, annual exams, insurance, gas for the cars, vet bills for the pets, etc. I rarely spent any money on a work wardrobe, never had lunch with the girls, I don’t like coffee and the second car was a necessity if I wanted to get to work on time. Buses in my area take two whole hours to get from my house to work. No trains. Women had to enter the work force to pay for the high cost of rent or house payments, food and gas, whether they wanted to or not. In most cases they probably would have preferred to stay home to take care of their kids, but the economy forced both parents to work just to make ends meet.

For some kids a daycare center is “Home”. They spend more time there than “at home”
