Why do so many think so? I don’t care if it ruins the country and costs more money; I get it for free!

Most oppose Obamacare because it DOESN’T GO FAR ENOUGH. Stop watching distorted FIXED NEWS!

First off, Glenn needs to focus on those who DO want MORE “free stuff” like what they’ve been getting for years, like: Exxon Mobil, Shell, Cargill, Archer Daniels Midland, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Waltons, Kochs, public land grazers, mining industries (now mostly Canadian companies), Big Pharmaceuticals, there’s a long list of “conservatives” raking it in. Hmm, it’s also the “conservatives” who seem most angered by the fact the ACA is NOT free, not those nasty “liberals”. (My congressman just had a phone “town hall”, and it was a flood of complaints from the right that premiums would have to be paid! I agree there needs to be some modification of the Acts details, but it doesn’t need to be scrapped to be fixed.)

    The Obama Clause:
“I didn’t know about that but I will look into it!”

Nobody thinks it’s “free stuff.” That’s not what we want and not what we are asking for. Only the right-wing anarchist nutbars present the demands for healthcare reform as a demand for “free stuff.” What we want — and what we largely got with the ACA – is responsible reform that distributes the burden of universal, affordable healthcare across all segments of the public; since it is, after all, a public good. Single-payer would have been much better, as it has been PROVEN to deliver better results at lower cost than the for-profit insurance system. But that’s been made impossible by the reactionary know-nothings of the right, of whom Mr. MccCoy is a prime example.

IF the kids think they are entitled to free stuff, where could they possibly have got that idea? Not from the Dems, who aren’t any more generous than the GOP, when it comes to the point.

They must be listening to the teabaggers who keep insisting as loudly as they can that there is ‘free stuff’.

Anybody old enough to ever have held a paying job knows better.

So, you indieme, are advocating even MORE government control of the health care system when they have totally screwed up the portion they already have control of? Are you completely insane?

SkepticCal: I’m well aware of the bookkeeping of “the Magic Kingdom”(Disney) and others in the entertainment industry, like Fox, MGM, Universal, etc, having known screenwriters and actors promised " a share of the box office". Which, that IS the box office (“private source”), not the U.S. Treasury my list of folks are ripping off. Which, with Netflix, and the switch to digital format motion pictures, many small theaters across the country are going out of business. That $60K plus for new projection equipment for the digital isn’t there, and the studios are halting production of actual “film”.

“…contradict…” It must be very very cold where you are. Here is the meaning that your frozen mind missed:
The TOON shows a young person expecting free Obamacare and now finding out they will pay a lot for Obamacare.

Young people who oppose the affordable care act because they are young and healthy and can’t imagine that they will ever be old and sick are enjoying the myopia of youth. The benefits of a civilized society are not free.

Conservatives have no problem with people sponging off of the government, freeloading on hard-working Americans, as long as they themselves are the ones doing it.

So, wait — young people want single-payer, but Glenn is determined to teach them that you need to pay something, which I guess means he likes the current Romneycare model … oh, my, I’m nearly as confused as he is …

Just another tired, worn out trope made up by con-job-servatives.
People don’t vote Democratic because they want free stuff. They vote that way because Republicans only care about the wealthy and don’t give a rat’s behind for the common, everyday working stiff.

America has the highest infant mortality rate in the developed world, about the same as Slovenia. Maybe that has something to do with the 50M Americans with no health insurance. The Republican party is probably quite proud of that figure because it represents their success in keeping taxes down for the one percent and Fortune 400.
