    @singlespeed

    To be honest, both of the two rulings allow more power to the states which is a conservative cause. The reason they voted against the bill is because the Supreme Court has never turned over a states courts decision to declare a statue unconstitutional.

    So that ruling has no wait outside of California except to enforce state law. Other same sex marriage bans will stay in tact. The only reasons why Prop 8 is now dead is that two lower courts declared it unconstitutional.

    If by treading on you, you mean granting tax-exempt status then, too late.

    @ReFlex-76

    The truth is not with you, Denied no, put into a delay that last and last is worse then a denie. If denied you can fix what they asked for and apply. But how does knowing the content of ones prays work? I guess they learned that one in the same tax payer funded trip that they learned the Cupid Shuffle.

    So, McCoy’s ’toon seems to imply that “the party poopers” are cross-dressing sniveling little twits? Well, partly true at a minumum.

    @Ruff

    CARE, as opposed to the pro

    @Tigger
    “Why are you fine with Liberal Groups being given Tax Exempt Status?”
    I’m listening. Please name some.

    You are not defining Tax Exempt Status.

    There are two forms of NPOs. One requires that donors be identified, the other does not.

    What the teabaggers applied for was NPO status, hiding their donors. They should have been flagged right away, because they are a political party. In a transparent government, what party has the right to hide donor records?Why should they be granted that?

    Yeah, the transparent government thing was sarcasm; but I do find it interesting that even as the GOP screams about the non-transparent goverment, some of their factions are determined to hide their donors.

    See any hypocrisy there? Double standard maybe?

    My understanding is that the only application that was actually denied was a liberal one.

    What’s your beef?

    The real scandal here is that conservative political groups where fraudulently applying for tax exempt status as “social welfare” organizations and then complaining when they were denied.

    many conservative groups not denied but are still on hold for years. yep 6 drug legalization groups put on hold guess that equals to the hundreds of conservative groups. they should do like one guy did change teaparty to progressive and got approve in a month

    The one trick pony is at it again. Glenn can be one of the cleverist cartoonists in the business if he puts his minds to it. I just don’t understand why 90 percent of his work is crap like this. Maybe it is what his right wing paymasters demand. Does anyone out there know just where he is coming from?

    Perhaps the reason the IRS didn’t target as many liberal groups was because liberal groups weren’t generally trying to game the nonprofit status designation. NONPROFIT MEANS (at least mostly) NOT POLITICAL. You have a right to say what you want, but you DON’T have a right to a subsidy (that is, MY TAX DOLLARS) to say it. Does anyone seriously believe that ANY group with “tea party” in its name was doing ANYTHING of any social welfare value? That it was ANYTHING but a bunch of deluded rednecks trying to influence politics while their rich sponsors pulled the strings behind the curtain? I mean seriously, come on. They all deserved to be busted and my only complaint is that the IRS backed off in this clearly legitimate enforcement action; and that Obama spinelessly apologized.
