    Times like this make me wonder if reporters have any sense of decency.

    Let’s all rush to the scene and tie up motel/hotel rooms that could be used to house survivors. Then we can wander through the destruction exclaiming “like a war zone” and obstruct the rescue work.

    @hphundt

    Well said, hphundt, But we can’t blame the media. If consumers didn’t eat this up, they wouldn’t do it. Lets hear it for tabloid Tv and the
    general dumbing down of the taste of a nation…

    Wraithkin: no, they don’t. (personal experience in several situations, from war to natural disasters, and accidents)

    Admit it, when you first heard of the tornado you thought “how many died?”

    @zzazzenn

    My morning newspaper said 99 had died with more expected while the net had revised down to 20.

    The Boston bombing coverage was non-stop. I personally don’t watch tabloid TV or Reality shows, not because I feel ‘superior’, they simply hold no interest for me.
    Agreed- it’s what is in demand, unfortunately.

    Good news so far only 24 have died not 91 as previously reported. Still a terrible loss but not as great in number.

    Yes, that’s what happens when media is run for profit rather than for public benefit. You know, the free market.

    @Ian Rey

    Yeah, yeah, the gov’t should nationalize the media then we’ll have sanity and truth. Bwh ha ha!
