They had the Easter egg hunt at the Whitehouse, so once again McCoy is back to pointless Obama bashing.

They had the Easter Egg hunt but no Tours, they are cutting back on the Thunder Birds and Blue Angles but not our leaderships salaries and benefits.

    What do you think?

Quote from a recent Washington times article.

" Neither President Obama nor first lady Michelle appear to give a damn about perception . They won the White House and, by God, they’re going to enjoy their time there, no matter the cost. And who cares what you think, anyway?"

One would hope that ya’ll would read the referenced article (blue word perception) in it’s entirety.

If you do how about an opinion?

Interesting article. Also interesting that it talks about how Bush handled it without all the fanfare that Obama seems to require for everything.

The real problem is, no one’s really going to care.

As I said yesterday, the Easter Egg Roll was funded by private donations and the sale of collectible eggs.
The eggs are made of hardwood, and have The President’s and The First Lady’s signatures in gold.
If you buy the set of 5 eggs you also get an egg signed by Bo.

“then flew to Paris on the taxpayer dime to scarf down 3000 francs worth of croissants.”

You realize that France has joined the European Union, meaning that Francs are worthless and as such so is your argument.

Your article is someone’s opinion. Bush was an incurious person who did not travel outside the states before being president, no wonder he was happy cutting brush while the world burned.

“Quote from a recent Washington times article.”

Joseph Curl was the guy Cheney sent out to lie about Scooter Libby’s role in the Plame affair, so I would take him with a grain of salt, lime & a shot of tequila.

Yes,I read the whole piece & thought it even more ridiculous than most of the crap about the Obama’s “lavish lifestyle”. Curl even has the cajones to pretend that Bush didn’t go to his ranch in Crawford, TX till late 2003, which is a bald faced lie.
    http://austin.ynn.com/content/headlines/79159/bush-has-busy-crawford-vacation-schedule

And let’s not even get started on all of the donors who Bush entertained at the White House & Camp David.

The whole issue is nonsense, distracting everyone from more important issues.

Unlike Obama, Bush was concerned with public perception (especially during the war in Iraq) and made an effort to schedule holiday vacations in a way that wouldn’t take others away from their families — even a media that despised him:

“I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal,” [President George W. Bush] said years later. “I don’t want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them.”

That’s also why Mr. Bush did two other things, without fanfare or praise. First, he never headed home to his Texas ranch until after Christmas, instead going to Camp David for a few days. That way, the hundreds of people revolving around him at all times — White House staff, Secret Service agents, reporters, photographers, all the others — could spend the holiday with their families in and around Washington, D.C. No one ever reported that — until this column.

Second, he rarely attended sporting events, although he once owned a baseball team and was a self-confessed stats junkie. His thinking there was the same: If he went to a baseball game (right down the street from the White House), his mere presence would mean hours and hours of extra security for fans.

Conversely, Obama, who never has to worry about the media turning against him (including lying for weeks about a terror attack in Libya), doesn’t give a damn about public perception — not during a recession; not even during a time when sequester cuts are being blamed for the closing of White House tours and airport control towers:

How else to explain the nonstop vacations the pair keep taking during what Mr. Obama calls the “worst financial crisis since the Great Depression”? In 2013, the First Family has already enjoyed three vacations — that’s one a month. (Sorry, Joe America, you might have to forget your week at the beach again this year, but make sure you get those taxes in on time!

LOL! Refuted by Uncle Joe! You mean the same Joe Biden who after jetting to Aspen for an expensive ski trip then spent New Year’s in the Virgin Islands and popped off over the Easter weekend for a golf outing at the glorious Kiawah Island, S.C. (where rounds of golf on the spectacular Ocean Course run $353 — nearly $20 a hole). His third vacation of the year came the same week as reports that he and his entourage spent $460,000 for a single night in London and $585,000 for a night at a five-star hotel in Paris. Keep drinking the tax-funded kool-aid!

    @Uncle Joe

    Ok let’s address this:

First, you dismiss all information given by any conservative outlet because of your narrow minded bigoted attitude. One would think the party of tolerance would be more open minded but….

Second, search as I did I could find no reference to anyone pretending that Bush didn’t go to Crawford until late 2003. Now the reference you gave was an article from 2003 and the plan it referenced was for 2004 so and yes Bush did have a busy plan. But the subject in discussion is not how terrible either president is (and they both are bad) but on the “perception” of what they did and how they controlled that perception.

Now the issue is that because of minor cuts in the projected increase in spending this president is focused on cutting where the public will suffer the most; rather than looking for actual waste he denies schools the privilege of touring the White House. Meanwhile, he and his wife continue to indulge in a very lavish lifestyle on our dime.

And visitors to the White House? Please. Have you bothered to review that public record for Obama?

“Second, search as I did I could find no reference to anyone pretending that Bush didn’t go to Crawford until late 2003. Now the reference you gave was an article from 2003 and the plan it referenced was for 2004”

The reference was to raising money for the 2004 election campaign, the trip was in August 2003. Curl claims that Bush didn’t go until December. If a poster here made this claim, I’d be more forgiving of the mistake.

Curl is a professional journalist who is writing his opinion, which is fine, but presents a fact that is false. He has a history of doing this. When someone has a history of presenting falsehoods as facts, I tend to assume they are either stupid or a liar. In Curl’s case, I lean towards BOTH.

Bush went to Crawford for a “working” vacation on August 1st, 2003. He had already spent a lot of time at Camp David, including the weekend after the invasion of Iraq. I provided a link to on news article documenting the August trip. Here’s more:

    http://www.buzzflash.com/contributors/03/08/23_vacation.html

    http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=20030831&slug=crawford31

Curl is trying to paint a contrast between a hardworking, frugal Bush administration during wartime with a high spending, high living Obama administration. The facts don’t support him.

There are plenty of conservative writers who I read, respect & even occasionally agree with. If disliking & distrusting Curl makes me a “bigot”… well, you should beware of the conservatives here who don’t think we can redefine words.
