Four months should be enough to give the impression he is really thinking about the situation.

Has the General gone away yet?

I would like to improve the debate between Lib and Con issues here…McChrystal has his obligations and Obama has his. I think claiming that Obama has less compassion for our troops is a disingenuous tact to take.
If I’m for prosecuting the battles against the Taliban I do believe it’s my prerogative as the C-in-C. to consider all options; and that does translate to seeking the best for the troops and the war.

Osama plays golf more often than Tiger Woods, from what I’ve been seeing…

Most of us doubt the General is right and that we can win in Afghanistan. (And most of us want health care reform). Our leaders and the media are to the right and out of touch with the people. 3000 Americans drop dead from lack of medical care on our own soil each and every month… the equivalent of twelve 9/11 attacks each year. Yoohoo! elected officials! Looky over here at this tragic pile of bodies right under your noses!

What have you been seeing there, scottfreias? Got a house on the fairway, do you? Too bad you didn’t live in Crawford, Texas – you could have watched a president for days and days and days, fiddling while Rome burned, instead of having to catch a guy taking a few breaks here and there between meetings.

Assuming you really have some knowledge of how much he plays golf. Which, y’know, you don’t.

Hmm, yeah tjdestry, too bad the media already reported that Osama has played more golf since he’s been Prez than Bush managed in 8 years.

In fact, Osama is the most golf-crazy Prez since Dwight D. Eisenhower.

No wonder he drives a Caddy!

    tjdestry,
Scott may not be on the fairways to watch Obama golf, but plenty of others are:
    http://www.politico.com/click/stories/0910/obama_ties_bush_on_golf.html
Bush faced heavy criticism for playing golf while the nation was at war, and gave it up in 2003 for the remainder of his term.

    sophieschoice,
Who is this “us” to which you refer such that most of them doubt the general? Something to back that up? And that 3000 a month is an incredibly twisted statistic. What does “lack of medical care” mean, anyway? Does that mean doctors refuse to treat, there are no doctors, care doesn’t exist, patients can’t afford a procedure? Does it mean insurance won’t pay? Insurance is not a requirement for medical care. If we could drive down prices for the care itself, it wouldn’t be so burdensome to pay for your own care, and charities could take care of more people. Yes, most of “us” want health care reform, but most of “us” don’t agree with Congress on what that means.

All of the above. However, there is the real equivalent of a 9/11 every day as American women make the “Sophie’s Choice” of handing one of their children to the abortionist.

Was the 7 years Bush (43) waited to analyze the Afghanistan/Pakistan situation was too fast for the commentators? Did the Bush Administration ever have a plan beyond kicking the Taliban out and invading an unrelated country?

Be that as it was, waiting until the elections in Afghanistan are over should be a better time to make an announcement, one way or the other.
