Quoting Mao, and calling him your favorite philosopher is generally a bad idea, whether you mean it ironically or not.

Having said that, all this cartoon makes me want to do is listen to the Beatles.

I always get a queasy, dizzying feeling of disbelief whenever I contemplate the disgusting mass of freaks and low-lifes Osama surrounds himself with in his “cabinet.”

It’s as though he deliberately set out to find all the worst, most depraved 60’s rejects and gather them all together in one place.

The fact that place happens to be The White House must make John Adams weep from his grave…

Mao in his day, was much more popular then Reagan ever was.
Both liked the trickle down methods

scott, I believe the founding fathers would weep in their graves if they read your posts … they would mourn our democracy, our republic and their insistence on a free press and the public’s right to know.

That’s our scott. Never content to simply disagree with someone, he has turn his enemies into bizzare, grotesque monsters who are solely dedicated to destroying his own individual way of life. It’d be almost cute if it wasn’t so off the walls crazy.

Only someone who has no idea what this country is about would read Scott’s comments and proclaim “the founding fathers… would mourn our democracy, our republic and their insistence on a free press and the public’s right to know.”

Obviously the saying “I don’t agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it” has no meaning to some people.

Typical of the party of “better Red than dead”, and whose motto is “free speech for everyone as long as you agree with me”.

It also explains why some people have no problem with the White House Communications Director– of all people– proclaiming in speeches that Mao was one of their favorite philosophers.

See how it all ties together?

I don’t agree with rantings that simply follow the Rush-Beck-Fox-GOP script without any attempt to discover the actual facts, but I will defend to the death your right to claim them as your own thoughts.

    There, you feel better?

Generally, Anita Dunn went overboard in some ways imo. However, she did not deny Fox’s rights as a media. She iirc simply said Fox is biased. Well, that’s her opinion, and imo it is correct. She said Obama has had interviews with Fox and will continue to do so, but the administration does not regard Fox News in the same way as they do other large channels. Well, that’s their right.

Coming from an official member of the administration, that was not necessarily a smart thing to say. However, I do not see any threat to free speech there.

Actually, I seem to remember members of previous administrations complaining about biased media as well. So… what else is new?

  9. cdward

It was different when the Bush administration said it because, well, it was okay. But this is Obama! That makes it bad!

John Adams mourned “free press” of HIS day, but he like his enemy/friend Thomas Jeferson would rather live with it than without it. No one enjoys being criticized and every president has especially hated it. Some have taken it better than some others.

Freedom of Press/Expression has never been a right to lie, libel, slander or shout “fire” in a crowded theater, as some seem to think.

McCoy has the right to be wrong. I just find it sad that so many people don’t see how incredibly biased he is.

I don’t get the outrage here. Obviously quoting Mao doesn’t have anything to do with agreeing with everything Mao did, as evidenced by Newt Gingrich quoting Mao as well as late as ‘95.

This is nothing but pure political theatre. The right-wing smear squads just write scripts based on anything plausible their brainwashed followers would believe, and its just getting crazier and crazier.

    Roger said, 29 days ago

Sorry lefties- you keep trying to spin this as “She simply quoted from Mao”. NO. She said he was her favorite philosopher. One of the greatest mass murderers in history, right up their with Hitler and Stalin. It’s funny how Obama has so many of these far out extremist leftists who have ties to communism and terrorism, yet the left try to say “he knows lots of people”. The left throw a curtain over all their faults but shine a spotlight and giant magnifying glass on those of the right.

    Just hypocrites!

I’ll buy more Beatles when I can download from iTunes.

No more with the 45s, LPs, 4-track, 8-track, cassettes, CDs and Blu-Rays. Spent too much money that way and it all became obsolete. I’ll consider buying one more time if it is from iTunes. Not doing the physical media any longer.

  26. Ronshua

    RonshuaGenius_badge said, 29 days ago

One of the most Prolific mass murderers in history.

    Yes indeed !

    Mao Zedong
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Conversely, Mao’s social-political programs, such as the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, are blamed for causing severe famine and damage to the culture, society and economy of China. Mao’s policies and political purges from 1949-1975 are widely believed to have caused the deaths of between 40 to 60 million people.

    ……………………………………………….

Mao reacted first by accusing the opponents of opportunism and kulakism and then set off a series of systematic suppressions of them.[14] Under the direction of Mao, it is reported that horrible forms of torture and killing took place.[15]

Victims had a red-hot metal object rammed into the bleeep and that there were many cases of their stomachs being cut open, and their hearts removed.[16] A confidential report found that a quarter of the entire Red Army under Mao at the time was slaughtered, often after being tortured.[17] The estimated number of the victims amounted to ‘tens of thousands’[18] and could be as high as 186,000.[19] Critics accuse Mao’s authority in Jiangxi of being secured and reassured through the revolutionary terrorism, or red terrorism.[20]

    One mans freedom fighter……….

Say, what ever happened to old Mao anyway ? We sure wouldn’t want to do business with them.

Oh, did I say Nixon ?
Bush went to China for the Olympics. For 3 days, and didn’t kill-a-one of them murdering commies.
Maybe if he had, they wouldn’t have bought half the country.
China and the USA are now partners, together we own America.

  29. danTheForth

    danTheForth said, 29 days ago

Since when is “Bush did it” an excuse for anything Obama or another lefty does? (Not to mention the “Nixon did it” people). I had no idea the left looked up to Bush so much that you want your leaders to act like him.

Even if you’re saying, “Bush did worse,” how does that matter? Can you stand trial for murder and say, “But that other guy killed 10 people. I only killed one!” and get away with it?

You’re all eventually going to have to retire the Bush argument. You might as well start early.

itisme, if you’re going to throw out something like that you’d better give some sort of reference and explanation. Otherwise we’re in for a free-for-all: Why doesn’t anyone care that Obama said Stalin would be welcome in his cabinet and Josef Mengele should run the CDC?

  30. senorbullwinkle

    senorbullwinkleGenius_badge said, 29 days ago

DANNIE WHANNIE, What an original argument . I’ve never heard it before………NOT

Look at the toon Dannie Fannie, and tell me what’s it’s got to do with Obama ?

And now you want to compare comparisons ? Too bad your Guy is such a loser, there is no comparison.

  31. danTheForth

    danTheForth said, 29 days ago

Did you really just use NOT? And did you really just call me Dannie Whannie and Dannie Fannie? The combination of the two suggests you’re a kindergartener who just arrived from 1991. If you’re going to use childish nicknames, you must be able to do better than rhyming nonsense words.

What does the toon have to do with Obama? For starters, he’s in it. I’ll explain the toon. Anita Dunn, who named Mao as one of her favorite philosophers, is disputing the Beatles’ claim that praising Mao won’t get you anywhere. She thinks they would have known better had they met Obama. Maybe you “ain’t gonna make it with” most people, but you can get a high position with Obama.

But what has that to do with my previous comment? Your comment appears to be a complete non sequitur. I hadn’t said the toon was about Obama, I was criticizing those who were using the Bush excuse.

Who exactly is my Guy by the way? I don’t recall ever praising Bush.

These people are considered qualified? For what? To head up Ethnic cleansing? Or in America’s case: intellectual homicide. Is it acceptable yet to implicate the Liberal values of the American academic world as causative of the educational decline of America? When are we going to start dealing truthfully with each other? There is a difference between communication skill and head knowledge; and a difference between head knowledge and wisdom. It seems to me Libs have the head knowledge and the verbal skills ; but have little wisdom to draw from.
