    Gwen Ifill, the moderator of this debate wrote a book that is pro-Obama. Hardly a fair situation in my opinion, but I guess I should be used to this kind of stuff by now.

    The book hasn’t been published yet – how do you know it’s “Pro-Obama”??? Did the commies under your bed whisper too loudly and give it away?

    Republicans agreed to Ifill well after her book project was announced. She has been a solid journalist for years and, if the GOP wasn’t running Barbie for VP, they wouldn’t be looking around for reasons to excuse what is likely to be a horrific performance tonight. (I’ll bet Gwen Ifill knows the names of some newspapers and magazines. She might even know about more than one Supreme Court case.)

    Clearly, you are not familiar with Ifill’s other works (google some) or didn’t bother to read the title of the book. The title of the book describes Obama as a BREAKTHROUGH. Hardly objective.

    Bob… you’re not reading, you’re reading INTO. “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama” His name is in the title but she’s a black woman in a prominent media position writing about her perspectives on politics and race.

    Don’t speak to her being PRO-Obama until you read the book or at least understand the title.

    Here is Faux News 1 paragraph excerpt:

    That’s ridiculous to assume I’d pick a partisan person from the right when I clearly want the debate to be moderated by an objective person. I’d chose a non-partisan or at least not an overtly partisan person to moderate. I’m starting to think you’re trolling me DH.

    The fact that she is proclaming an “age of Obama” is pretty clear to me what she’s talking about. Not too mention her other writings.

    Nice loaded question. Have you?

    I will say that despite being a clear Obama supporter, Ifill did a very good job tonight. She was fair and that’s all I want. I’m not sure if it was the pressure she was getting from the right or what but she asked balanced questions to both candidates. I’m glad to have been wrong on her bias during the debate and hope that the media will follow her lead from here on.

    The Bushies have been in power so long we’ve forgotten how to imagine someone being PROFESSIONAL instead of allowing personal feelings intrude? Please. And FWIW, Obama’s the first mixed race American who’s ever been a serious contender for the presidency, so in that alone and if for nothing else he is a breakthrough.

    Bob – big of you to admit that she was fair, because she totally was. But really still wrong to imply that the rightwing crybabies MADE her be fair. Gwen is a bleeep good journalist period.

    Tom Brokaw wrote “The Greatest Generation” that doesn’t make me think he hates young people. Ifill is BLACK it seems appropriate that she would write about the guy that “broke through” the color barrier in Presidential politics.

    I watched the debate. The Palin person was clearly out of her league. She is, essentially, an airline stewardess. With all her cute winks, and wrinkling her nose, and the “you betcha” and all the rest, she might be able to assure the kids if the air gets bumpy, but when the plane goes down we’re plowing in hard.

    Okay, TGS. We are finally seeing the big picture. Go to Drudge Report and it’s a landslide for Palin. Go to CNN and Biden crushed her alive. Go to FOX and she is the second coming of Christ.
