This is absolutely shameful. Nobody is asking you to take a balanced view – it’s understood that you are a party line conservative and are going to bash Obama no matter what. That’s your right. And it’s also understood that editorial cartoonists like to play games with the facts. But this is just cheap, tasteless character assassination. I’d expect it of an anonymous blogger, maybe a 14 year old wannabe cartoonist. It’s not just unprofessional – it’s immature and well beneath your dignity as an adult, never mind a cartoonist.

This is in terrible taste, and well below any standard of decency! I usually appreciate, if not agree with, your point of view, but this is simply a cheap attempt at humor.

Although I usually disagree with your political viewpoint, your cartoons are usually well done and express an understandable point of view. This one is not only in TERRIBLE taste, it misrepresents Mr. Obama’s views to the point of being a vicious lie. It just adds to the polarized atmosphere in which the two sides will not be able to discuss this important issue sincerely and/or meaningfully. You have done harm to both sides and a disservice to our country’s political discourse. You should be ashamed to have hurt so many people so thoughtlessly.

You are one sick effhead, McCoy. You should be strapped down and given meds, srsly.

And this POS shows up in the NY Times? Disgraceful all around.

Further, this just shows the utter hypocrisy of the right wing, so-called pro-life, crowd, who weep crocodile tears over a fetus, but cheer shooting innocent Iraqi children in the face. “Disgusting” doesn’t even begin to cover it.

G McC is about one step away from making bombs in his basement. I bet he sits in his living room polishing up ol’ Betsy waiting for the day he has to serve The Lord by shooting some doctor in a parking lot.

This may be the most offensive cartoon I have ever seen. Obama and other supporters of a womans right to choose to end her preganancy do so not because it is the preferred method of reproductive control, but because we believe it is her decision to make, not the governments or churches. If you believe in God, let God judge her, not you narrow minded reactionaries. DROP McCoy from this site and all others.

This Independent has never been moved to write to an editorial cartoonist before, but this piece of diarrhea is so unfounded, inaccurate and irresponsible that I can’t believe the New York Times permits it to be linked from their “Humor” page. Mr. McCoy, you have a bully pulpit here; are you sure you want to waste it making up accusations so far removed from truth that they debase not only the political process, but the country itself?

  12. junebugmom

Where does McCoy get this stuff? From Obama’s own voting record. He opposed the Born-Alive Infants’ Protection Act, legislation intended to confer upon botched-abortion surviving babies the same legal protection afforded to prematurely born babies. This comic is no more reprehensible than late-term abortion procedures, and it is simply not possible to have a rational conversation with any person incapable of recognizing infanticide.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the Obamassiah voted to allow the killing of babies who survived an abortion. Nothing offensive about that, though, is there?

Voting against the bill doesn’t mean he wants to kill babies, you goof. The bill basically accomplishes nothing because, in case you weren’t aware, killing babies is already illegal.

this is not a cartoon, it is grotesque propaganda. have you nothing better to do than blatantly misrepresent both senator obama’s history on this issue as well as what the actual votes he cast were all about?

i know, i know, bleeep the facts, and why bother? there is a much larger readership when you shock the people, no matter how tasteless and filthy, eh?

you should have your pencil taken away from you and then sent to your room without dinner.

petulance in an adult is quite unbecoming and shouting obscenities just so that you get noticed is so juvenile.

    your cartoon borders on slander.

I’m a 76 year old senior; I’ve seen a lot of “sick, insane, monsterous actions” in my life & this cartoon (?) ranks as the most repulsive drawing I have ever seen. Mr. McCoy, you are REALLY mentally ill & need help immediately. No newspaper in this country should ever print anything as repulsive & sick as this..much less, call it a ‘cartoon”!

McGoit rips a page from Stephen King: whenever he feels short on wit, inspiration and talent he just gets gross. Go read Dean Swift’s “A Modest Proposal” to get a clue. This is just cacata carta.

Isn’t it great that when Liberals don’t agree with something they immediately call for it to be destroyed? Sounds really “fair” to me.

You may not agree with the cartoon but why must you push for it to be removed off the website or newspapers? Freedom of Speech my friends. Too bad none of you will read this because it’s all the way on the bottom…oh well there’s always next cartoon!

McCoy runs anti-Obama cartoons all the time, but this is the first one I’ve seen that lots of people have asked be removed from the site. You’re willfully blind if you don’t see something unusually repulsive about this cartoon. It’s not the political opinion of it, it’s the fact that you have a presidential candidate standing knee-deep in a filthy dumpster, clubbing dead babies with a bloody baseball bat, a look of cold hatred in his eyes, murdering with his own hands any babies who might have survived the abortion process. The image itself makes me want to vomit, and I’m not a fan of Obama or McCain. Everyone is entitled to love or hate the candidates as they choose, but to me this cartoon would be in very poor taste no matter who the candidate was. Sometimes a cartoonist can overstep the bounds of good taste (a lot of Rall’s cartoons come to mind), and this is an example of that.

I expect Rall’s work to be crazy, left-wing paranoia, and in bad taste. I expect McCoy’s work to be hackneyed, Fox News-inspired garbage, offensive in the way all cult members offend. This train wreck of a cartoon goes beyond the usual mindless propaganda McCoy produces. It’s Rallian in the worst possible way. If you hate the stuff Rall produces, you can’t like this cartoon either. Not in good conscience, anyway.

ConservativeBob said, about 1 year ago

Just because I hate what someone says does not mean for one second that I think they don’t have the right to say it.

I suppose we should show the “lighter side” of allowing born infants to die in hospitals then? This cartoon is perfectly viable in illustrating the harsh reality of this supposed “freedom of choice” of infanticde.

  28. Handrew

Handrew said, about 1 year ago

McCoy has the right to say anything he wants, as he should. GoComics, and any newspaper this cartoon might have run in, has the right to remove it. They do it all the time when a cartoon is deemed unsuitable for distribution, whatever the reason. It seems there are a lot of people, more than the usual number of people who gather on a given cartoon to voice their left/right point of view, who are disgusted by this cartoon. It seems this one would be a good candidate for removal, based on the reaction.

And while you’re just fine with the “harsh reality” depicted in this cartoon, I’ll remind you that it’s not the political expression that I’m reacting to, it’s the image itself. It’s disgusting. And Obama using a blood-soaked baseball bat to club nearly-aborted fetuses to death is no more “reality” than would be a cartoon graphically depicting W and McCain personally beheading a captive American soldier. I don’t want to see either, not because they’re oversimplified and completely unfair (hey, if I had a problem with that, I couldn’t read any editorial cartoons) but because besides being oversimplified and completely unfair, both are gratuitous and disgusting, done more for shock value than for discourse.

This is not a pro-life image.

I once saw a news story about a pair of teenage boys who gathered neighborhood cats, brought them to an empty room, and beat them to death with baseball bats just to watch them die. At the time I wondered what kind of a human being could do such a thing. Now I know. (And it isn’t Obama.)

The creator of this cartoon is a supporter of nothing more virtuous than cold-blooded slaughter, a follower of nothing more true than the twisted fantasies of a child pornographer, and a believer in nothing holier than the vicarious thrill of seeing others writhe in pain and draw back in horror upon glimpsing the inner workings of a deeply troubled mind.

It seems McCoy feeds on the anger he garners from both sides of the aisle. Life is too short to get mired in the same mud as this truly sad individual. I applaud the right for McCoy to be allowed to speak with his cartoons. I applaud my right to to remove His editorial and mainstream cartoon (The Duplex and The Flying McCoys) from my life forever.
