    Charles Smith: I used to carry on conversations with my animals. Real life, if I was going to let my dog take my cat for a walk, there would be a rope joining them by the collars. I never did think of that, though. It would have been great entertainment.

    The chou across the street would sometimes go wandering slowly up the block (he was an old dog and the cat was 18) and his cat would slowly follow him. The two were best buds. Usually you’d see them napping in the front yard, the cat flopped against the dog.

    Check your spelling and the definitions of the words — “Wretch” is an unfortunate person. “Retch” is to vomit.
