Housecats are known to be aloof, but "cat-titude" reaches new heights in Get Fuzzy, the bitingly hilarious comic strip from cartoonist Darby Conley. Available daily and Sunday and appearing in 650 newspapers nationwide, Get Fuzzy is a wry portrait of single life, with pets. At the center of this warm and fuzzy romp is Rob Wilco, a single, mild-mannered ad executive and guardian of anthropomorphic scamps Bucky and Satchel. Bucky is a temperamental cat who clearly wears the pants in this eccentric household. Satchel is a gentle pooch who tries to remain neutral, but frequently ends up on the receiving end of Bucky's mischief. Together, this unlikely trio endures all the trials and tribulations of a typical family... more or less.
The National Cartoonists Society honored Get Fuzzy with a Reuben division award, naming it the Best Newspaper Comic Strip of 2002. There are a dozen Get Fuzzy compilation books published by Andrews McMeel: The Dog Is Not a Toy (House Rule #4); Get Fuzzy 2: Fuzzy Logic; Groovitude: A Get Fuzzy Treasury; The Get Fuzzy Experience: Are You Bucksperienced; Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun; Blueprint for Disaster; Say Cheesy; Scrum Bums; Loserpalooza; I'm Ready for My Movie Contract; and Take Our Cat, Please; plus Get Fuzzy wall and box calendars.

Mixed feelings here. M3 is back but it’s 2010 vintage. I get the feeling this cartoonist is getting close to retiring. That’s such a shame.

Cartoonists are people too. Some times they need a little time off, just like the rest of us.

So not all strips are made months in advance? Depends on the artist I suppose.

Love your picture! Nothing wrong with your observation/comment either. I also dont like seeing good comics retire.

Lol, only Americans make comments as if everybody reading these comics are all Americans.

@Suzanne – Of all the story arcs, in all the weeks, in all the past years they had to pick this one to rerun. I remember not being the only one complaining about having to suffer through it. But I don’t know about Darby getting close to retiring, I sre hope not. I don’t knwo what I’d do without Bucky and poor sweet Satchel. And I do agree with others here, cartoonists do need a break from time to time, hopefully that’s all this is, Darby’s vacation.
@tacopielvr – I am not sure of Darby’s nationality, but I’m pretty sure GoComics is US based and the American Thanksgiving holiday is tomorrow. Many comics have reflected that realtiy on GC lately, so the comments by Americans aren’t American-centric arrogance, just a narrow world view, as it is with anyone. Did you take offense to Suzanne’s comment regarding Canada’s Thanksgiving having been last month? I don’t remember seeign a reference in the comics to it in October. So current references to Thanksgiving aren’t necessarily American-centric arrogance, but merely staying on topic of the general cartoon themes this time of year.

So did your holdiay shopping season start October 9? Do they have door buster deals @ 4:00am on Tursday too?
Sorry, I’m not really poking fun at you Canadians, but more at that retail greed that has morphed Christmas in America into a commercialistic enterprise instead of the humanitarian wonder it could be.
But seriously, do you in Canada have the same holdiay shopping frenzy we do in America? When do es it start? Is it the same as our (lame in my opinion) “Black Friday.”

According to Wikipedia:
(Darby) Conley was born in Concord, Massachusetts in 1970, (…)
So he is turning or turned 42 years old this year. I wish I could retire at that age!
(IOW: relax. I’m sure he was just taking a well-deserved break.)

Canadians should not take offense at most North Americans celebrating Thanksgiving in Nov. After all, there are 50 states in our United States, many of which have higher populations than all of Canada.
So, can’t we all just get along?
Stipple said, 6 months ago
And there are cities in Canada with larger populations than my entire state.
.
Hard to get along when one upping is the rule of the day.

I agree with the other commenters. I’m not complaining here about it being a rerun. And I love seeing Mac again. All of us need a break. And a strip such as this takes creativity and it can’t just be produced well day after day without a break here and there. And yes, I hope this strip continues for a long time. I can’t handle even a thought of it ever ending after just having Cul de Sac end (but, enjoying seeing it again from the beginning!).

I’ve just noted that in the past year, we’ve had a lot of repeats. I’m just sad there is not more new strips. Maybe he has a helath issue which prevents him from working more than he does.
As for Christmas shopping, our ads are shouting out Black Friday. Sigh. The real significance of Christmas has to fight for survival.
And for Thanksgiving we travelled to my friends’ place, worked together in her kitchen to make an awesome dinner to which my two boys were invited. I think Canada celebrates the day early because our winter comes earlier.
