I think I’d pray and stomp on the gas both. Then stop suddenly.

What’s funny about this is that I’ve almost run over a half-grown cougar near Forks, California. In a 5 speed Jeep while checking out harvest units.

It has something to do with respecting those older than us. We all need to learn it because if we’re lucky, we will live long enough to be those older people meriting the respect some day.

    There’s a Forks in California?

I only brought Gasoline Alley back on my favorites list…nice to see Walt still with us.

Calling someone “Mr {firstname}” is not uncommon and not disrespectful. It is a form of address to an elder and it is a form of address from a domestic to an employer.

In the area where I grew up Mr. First-name was a form of familiarity and respect. Usually felt over several generations.

Yup, He’s “MR.” Walt to those who work for him. Nuthin’ wrong with that. I’m “Mr. MJ” to my students. It works.

Glad to see MISTER Walt in GA again! Peace y’all.

Thank you for pointing that out. While I enjoyed the strip very much the first time I read it, when I reread it in verse, it was even better.
