Is there no end to the insults and humiliation Slim is expected to put up with? Everyone already knows Slim does not get along with that dog!
And wasn’t the reason this mangy mutt was a nuisance before because his owner wasn’t around (to speak Italian to him)?
Is Slim FINALLY going to blow?
Moreover, why am I, indeed, anybody reading this strip anymore?

The dog could be let back in as soon as Gretchen finishes making the couch into a bed — that is if Slim could stand the dog that long. So now the question is, where will the dog sleep? To those complaining about how long this story is taking to tell, yes, it does move slowly. How else could it last for nearly a century? At least the children are allowed to grow up in real time.

Slim, it is time to say, “NO!” She brought the stupid dog. SHE can take care of it.

So Gretchen saying the dog is being a nuisance but to who? Probably Guido who foisted the dog off on Gretchen
and now doesn’t want the dog around especially when he
is trying to sleep. Slim, for once, need to stop being a screwup and call a family meeting to discuss whats going
on. Too many unanswered questions. What is Gretchen covering up?

Poor dog probably will lick something off the floor of the garage and Slim will have to rush him to the vet. Hijinks ensue.

Is that the same apartment they had when the kids, Rover and Gretchen were with them Did they have their own rooms? If so, there should be room for everyone. Where did Lil & Cousin Chubby sleep when they “visited?” Inquiring minds want to know.

That’s what I’ve been wondering. I thought this was where the kids grew up. If it was a two bedroom, most people, when the kids move out, convert the spare into a combo office/guest room. So why is there this huge problem? So this would mean Guido gets the couch or Gretchen gets the couch if she sacrifices her room. There is a total lack of continuity with this arc.

Slim: No!! You brought the dog here. Guido is his owner, let him take care of the dog. As for you, since when should I take orders from my daughter? You sleep in the garage.

I disagree that Slim is stupid. He may not be the brightest bulb on the shelf, but he’s not stupid.
But he sure is a pushover.
Possible redemption for this arc – Slim finally has had enough and insists upon a change.
