    Let’s see. Since he isn’t one of the first 10 people off the plane, he must not be there.

    @Arye: it seems most comics use an exclamation point at the end of every sentence. My guess is that it’s easier for us to see than a period.

    Ending comics’ sentences with an ! is a long standing tradition. Every comic book I ever read did it that way. It’s easier to see than the .

    As I understand it a large part of the reason for using exclamation points is that periods sometimes disappeared using the printing techniques of the time (usually photo-offset printing) while exclamation points would remain visible if there was such a printing glitch.
