    I can actually hear Mel Blanc’s voice doing the announcing. Thank you, Mr. Scancarelli!

    And to think that Slim has a clue! I’m impressed.

    As a little kid I didn’t know that Cucamonga was a real place.

    Hey, I got it instantly, and I’m 14 years younger than Clovia. I read that they did that gag over and over again, drawing out the pause longer and longer. Finally, they did one where the announcement was at the beginning of the show. Blanc did the “Anaheim, Azusa, and Cuc…” and then the whole rest of the episode played out before he did the “…amonga!” at the very end.

    @Quartermain MILLER

    He knew, he said “Blanc”, not blank.
    PS: and it was on TV, too.

    A variation of this was also used in several Bugs Bunny cartoons as well since Mel Blanc worked on those too.

    Given the fact that Slim is there, the PA person might have said, “There’s a kook among us”!
